Meaning : An autosomal recessive form of muscular dystrophy that appears anywhere from late childhood to middle age. Characterized by progressive muscular weakness beginning either in the shoulder or pelvic girdle. Usually progresses slowly with cardiopulmonary complications in the later stages.
